wada farms

“We want to update our logo.” Refresh, refine, and rework it. Make it easier to use and reproduce over a wide variety of applications and sizes. Improve the legibility and brand image. But don’t change it. Presenting Wada Farms, one of our new clients in Eastern Idaho and one of the largest growers, packers and distributors of potatoes, sweet potatoes and onions in the United States. And now, a sterling example of how to evolve a brand identity without really “changing it.” Stay tuned, we have a lot of projects in the works for this great company.
harvest classic
Harvest Classic Bakery opened its doors in 1995 with a commitment to produce fabulous tasting, healthy bread, using only the finest ingredients. We met the founders, Steve and Mary Ann, last summer and had the pleasure of touring their bakery in Nampa, Idaho. We were even more delighted when they asked us to refresh their brand and redesign their packaging. Is there anything better than the smell of freshly baked bread in a freshly redesigned wrapper?
First of the new packaging to debut on shelves is the Classic 13-inch loaf of bread, to be followed soon by their Savors and BreadLovers lines.
stahlbush island farms unveils state of the art bio-gas plant

We are excited about our client Stahlbush Island Farms‘ recently released news: On June 2nd, 2009, they produced electricity using power generated at their new bio-gas plant from their very own fruit and vegetable by-product. This process, called anaerobic digestion, is typically used in dairy operations, and has been a popular alternative energy source in Europe for decades.
Stahlbush Island Farms is already a leader in sustainable farming nationally, but with their new BioGas Plant will firmly establish themselves as an international leader in the Sustainable Food Production movement as well.
Full press release by our PR partner, Donahoe Pace here, with coverage from KEZI-TV, here.
Congratulations to Stahlbush Island Farms on your continued efforts to push the boundaries of sustainability here in the US!

the outback at tamarack

We were asked to promote the opening of 5000 acres of back country skiing at Tamarack Resort. Steep, deep, virgin and ungroomed. The kind of skiing that usually requires a helicopter and guides, but at Tamarack it is available by skiing down the back side of the mountain, serviced by the main lift and snow cats. Our work included naming the area (The Outback at Tamarack), branding, and an ad campaign. Here is a variety of concepts we produced for the client’s review. The first one (above) actually won a Gold Addy from the American Ad Federation, even though the campaign never ran. As you can see, we had a lot of fun with this one!
a bunch of sluggers

The Foerstel / Donahoe-Pace Softball Team has been going strong again for the 2009 season! Even though the first couple of games got rained out…which is probably good for the “OTHER” teams that we were going to play, we’ve had some exciting times. We have a few new team members playing this year who have brought us some rousing moments…like slides into home plate, three catches in a row at center field, and some double plays that made us look like professionals! Currently we are 4-2 and in second place…for now!

meet the planet

I was asked to speak on a radio program called “Meet the Planet” out of San Francisco earlier this week. The topic was one very close to my heart - Organics! We talked about the importance of supporting organic agriculture and the true value of being an organic consumer. We covered a lot of ground in a short time, including the details of organic labeling, organic vs. local, and the health benefits of eating organically. A big plus for me was the opportunity to promote the informational web site we developed and sponsor, organic.org, which is a wonderful resource for anyone who is new to organics and would like to learn more. The show will air sometime in August, so look for another post that will provide an opportunity to hear the interview.
