bread is for lovers

Fresh off the introduction of a new brand identity and package redesign for their premium line, Harvest Classic asked us to take a look at their Breadlover’s brand and packaging. Dare we say it had grown stale over the years? We started from scratch, creating a whole new look and the resulting sales increase has been the best thing since–you guessed it–sliced bread!

international book features foerstel

the-mu

We were thrilled when Matitegiovanotte, a European design firm, asked us to submit our work for a new book called “The Meaning Underground: A Visual Trip into the Art of Copywriting” showcasing excellence in copywriting–and even more excited to learn that all three of our submissions will be included. Featured at international book fairs in both London and Frankfurt, the book contains work from agencies all over the world (only four from the U.S.), and will be available to the public in January 2010.

alaska naturals

tsc_ba_logos_loTrident Seafoods asked Foerstel to work on identity and packaging for a new brand and line of pet products, Alaska Naturals. The products utilize Trident’s finest quality Wild Alaska Natural Salmon Oil.

The identity and packaging had been started by another design firm and Trident asked us to complete it with some changes.

We refined the logo, redesigned the dog snack package, redesigned labels for the oil formulas, designed a full page ad, a sales brochure, and also a trade show booth backdrop.

Click below to see the refined identity mark as it applies to the packaging…

OktoberFAST

Beer, brats and Bavarian music - all things you’d expect from an Oktoberfest party. What made this an OktoberFAST party was pairing all these things with some fine German engineering. Foerstel partnered with Stein Distributing, Lyle Pearson Motors and client, Chandlers Steakhouse, for a gorgeous autumn day in downtown Boise.

The Silver Sage Porsche Club showed up in great force, showcasing over 100 vintage to late model Porsches and Lyle Pearson debuted the brand new 4-door Panamera. Foerstel designer, Jeff Harder, even got in the spirit by showcasing his pride and joy (click link below for a photo!). Foerstel created ads and a press release for the event as well as promoting heavily through social media. Definitely paid off with an event that exceeded all expectations!  more »

a healthier idaho with blue cross

bci_0809_runner_lo
We are happy to continue to carry out Blue Cross’ creative. This year: A Healthier Idaho. One step at a Time.  So far we’ve produced both digital and traditional billboards, corporate tradeshow banners, football and basketball program ad variations; as well as five radio spots that run across the state for the next several months. The message turns out to be a very timely one with all the health care debate. The Blue Cross of Idaho message is clear, simple, and brings good health into a “doable” realm by encouraging us all, one step at a time.

the ted conference

ted_logo

I saw a documentary about the TED Conference last night and was amazed and inspired. There is so much in the media and even our personal experiences every day that can cause frustration and negativity. This conference is all about incredibly gifted people using their creativity, imagination and hard work to create positive change for the whole world.

introducing… jeff harder

jeff
The third interview in our series is all about
Jeff Harder. Jeff recently celebrated his seventh year at Foerstel, which is one more reason we all feel lucky to have him as part of the team.  Jeff’s other dream job (besides this one of course) is to get paid for driving a race car. So we are all thrilled that he is willing to be excited about being a designer at Foerstel until his NASCAR sponsorship comes through.

What is your educational background?
Bachelors in Graphic Design from Columbia College Chicago.

Did you always know this is what you wanted to do?
Sort of. I knew how to draw and was always interested in all kinds of design—especially Architectural and Industrial Design. I thought designing cars or buildings would be cool but the prospect of complex math and engineering scared me off at the time and I fell into graphics. Little did I know that someone else could have done the engineering part for me…and I’m still stuck with the math.

What is your favorite part of the design process?
When THE IDEA hits you!
